IEP Advocacy and School Support
We provide educational advocacy services supporting families throughout the IEP process. With expertise in Deaf education and autism, we are highly equipped to assist you as you stand up for the rights of your child
Why DHH IEP Advocacy Services Matters
Navigating the special education system can be overwhelming, especially for families of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing children with disabilities or other developmental needs. Many parents feel unheard in meetings, misunderstood by school teams, or unsure how to request the supports their child truly needs.
DHH autistic students often fall through the cracks of special education because systems are not built to fully address both deaf/hard of hearing and autism needs together, even though these learners have clear legal rights to effective communication. A strong IEP for a DHH autistic student must start with communication access, making sure the student can understand others and express themself all day using the modes that work for them, such as sign language, speech, captions, AAC, or a combination. When teams center communication, use specialists who understand both deafness and autism, and design supports around the student’s sensory and language profile, school becomes safer, more accessible, and more meaningful for the student and family.
At Hand in Hand ABA, we stand beside you. Our IEP advocacy services ensures your child receives the communication access, behavioral supports, and placement considerations that are legally required and ethically necessary for a DHH learner to succeed.
