Built for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children with Disabilities From the Ground Up
Hand in Hand ABA is the first and only ABA therapy clinic in the world created exclusively for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) children with disabilities.
Discover Our Unique Journey
At Hand in Hand ABA, we embrace a distinctive approach to ABA therapy designed exclusively for Deaf and hard-of-hearing children with disabilities. Our mission is to provide individualized, play-based support through the transformative power of ASL-fluent, culturally responsive Applied Behavior Analysis, integrating multimodal communication, sensory-informed spaces, and collaborative family and school partnerships so children can grow in their own language and culture
Tailored Care for Every Deaf and Hard of Hearing Leaner
Tailored Care for Every Deaf and Hard of Hearing Leaner
We believe every Deaf and hard-of-hearing child brings a unique blend of strengths, challenges, and ways of communicating. That belief guides our work at Hand in Hand ABA, where ASL-fluent Board Certified Behavior Analysts partner closely with families to design individualized, play-based plans that center each child’s language, culture, and goals. Therapy is never one-size-fits-all; it is a collaborative journey, tailored to fit the real life of each child and family we have the privilege of serving.
Play-Based Applied Behavior Analysis Providers
Recognizing that Deaf and hard-of-hearing children learn best when therapy matches their language and play style, our sessions are designed to be joyful, visual, and child led. At Hand in Hand ABA, our team uses evidence-based ABA strategies within natural, play-based routines: signing, gesturing, using PECS or AAC, and sensory-rich activities to help children build communication, regulation, and daily living skills in ways that feel fun and meaningful.
Embracing the Neurodiversity of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children
At Hand in Hand ABA, we view autism in Deaf and hard-of-hearing children through a neurodiversity-affirming lens, celebrating each child’s unique strengths, communication style, and identity. Our approach recognizes that an autism diagnosis illuminates their distinct way of experiencing the world, not a deficit to fix; it guides us in supporting their natural language and sensory needs. Our goal is to empower every child to grow into their authentic self, communicating confidently, building connections across Deaf and hearing worlds, and thriving with self-advocacy.
Meet Our Founder
Jen G. Hills, BCBA
Jen Hills is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, licensed teacher of the Deaf, and doctoral candidate in Special Education with a focus on Deafness and Disabilities. After years of working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students with autism and developmental challenges, Jen saw a systemic issue:
Deaf children were often placed in programs that failed to reflect their language, culture, or identity.
She founded Hand in Hand ABA to change that, to build a place where DHH children could receive high-quality, evidence-based behavioral support in their primary language and cultural context.
Why We Exist
We did not adapt an existing model and try to make it fit DHH children. We built something entirely new centered around their language and cultur
For too long, Deaf and Hard of Hearing children with disabilities have been placed in therapy programs that:
Could not communicate with them
Did not understand their identity
Were never designed with them in mind
Families were forced to choose between support and connection, between services that might help, and providers who could truly understand their child.
That reality was unacceptable. So we created something different.
The result is Hand in Hand ABA.
More Than a Clinic, A Movement
At Hand in Hand ABA, we believe Deaf and Hard of Hearing children with disabilities deserve more than services that simply include them. They deserve a therapy model that begins with them at the center.
From intake through intervention, every decision we make is guided by language access, respect for neurodiversity, and affirmation of Deaf cultural identity. We are not only providing therapy. We are creating a space where children are empowered to connect, communicate, and thrive in ways that reflect who they are.
As the first clinic of its kind, we also carry the responsibility of shaping a better future. Research at the intersection of autism and deafness is still limited. We are committed to contributing to this field through our work, our data, and our lived experience. Our goal is to help shift the practice of ABA toward a model that is inclusive, informed, and just.
Hand in Hand ABA is the first and only ABA therapy clinic team in the world created exclusively for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children with disabilities. Led by Jen Hills our well equipped applied behavior analysis providers give your family the tools for success.
